Read the bible in 90 days

I have tried probably ever year since I was 16 to read the bible in a year. Every year I fall short of this goal, this year will be different. I am exactly 3 days late starting this challenge over at Mom's Toolbox to read the bible together with other blogger's and non blogger's in 90 day. I am hoping to catch up tonight as hubby is on a 24 hour shift tonight at the fire station. Why I want to read the bible in 90 days is quite simple. I want to know how to better please God in my day to day life. My 6 year old is hungry for God and I want to be knowledgeable for him. I Hope that others may join in the challenge late with me, don't let that stop you. I will be blogging some about the journey along the way.

Happy New Year

At this time of year it seems as if everyone is thinking of what they are leaving behind in 2009 and what they hope to accomplish in 2010. I am no different, I know that 2009 was the last year I got with my grad father Papa Joe, we lost friends, our friends lost babies, and overall we just did not have the best year. I realize that my family is not above suffering, but sometimes you are ready for a new beginning. I feel like 2010 is my family's new beginning and I am excited for the clock to roll around to midnight. My wonderful husband has to work tonight so chances are I will go to sleep long before the clock strikes 12 (and chances are my husband wont get to sleep at all, because new years eve is job security for a fire fighter..) I thought that I would share a few of my new years resolutions for 2010.

1. This one is always the same be a better wife and mother. I want to be a more patient mother this coming year and spend more time in scripture with my children. I want to be a better supporter of my husband this year and not take everything out on him. My husband deserves praise and not nagging.

2. I want to get back in church consistently, join a small group and get involved.

3. I want to be a better Christian. I want to spend more time in his word, and make sure that I spend quiet time with him every morning before my house turns to chaos.

4. I want to spend my year volunteering and serving. I need to set a better example to my children to be better servants to the Lord. With this also comes random acts of kindness I want to make sure I do a better job with this in the upcoming year.

5. I want to keep my home clean, organized and always ready for someone to stop by.

6. Start and complete project 365. I think this will be an awesome way to remember how our family spent the year.

What are your goals for 2010?

Meet the Martin's and my Lovebugs

I thought as a start I would give y'all a little back round on my family and I. There are 4 of us in the Martin household living out our happily ever after. First up is me the mama, I am a SAHM and feel like a single mom most of the time due to my hard working husband making sure I get to stay home with the bugs. I am a Christian, a mother, a wife, a daughter and a just flat out mess a lot of the time. This blog hopefully is going to be a way for me to write down things I want to remember about my family and what my children do so 10 years from now I can actually make a scrapbook or something for my kids. OK time to meet my Prince Charming and our two awesome love bugs.

Prince Charming is my best friend, and my children' s hero. We went to high school together but never dated. I had N and was married and soon divorced. I reconnected with C and we only dated a little over 2 months before getting married. He is my soul mate, life is so good with him. I always grew up a Christian, but never understood the agape love of our God until I married C. He has shown me unconditional love for me and the kids the entire time. He is a works hard so that i can stay home with our children and I am so thankful for that wonderful sacrifice he is making for our family. He not only works at the fire station 24 on 48 off, but on his 48 off he works on an ambulance anywhere from 9-12 hours or more. He is the love of my life and I believe he was truly heaven sent to me. OK so enough about prince charming and on to our oldest love bug.

This is our oldest son N, he is the best big brother in the world. He is caring and wears his heart on his sleeve. I have never met a child more funny than N, the stuff he comes up with never ceases to amaze me. He is compassionate and is hungry for God. He is a great servant of the lord and a wonderful example to others. He loves to be outside to play, riding his scooter or bike. He is a great student and has really enjoyed K this year, although he often says he wishes he was already in 1st grade. N's favorite food is cheeseburger macaroni, and favorite desert is chocolate ice cream with sprinkles. I love him more than I ever thought you could love a child. He is my original love bug.

This is our love bug A, she turned 2 in September. A is a little mama, we often even call her that. She has an embarrassing number of babies that she carries around the house all day, and sleeps with at night. He favorite show is Caillou on PBS. Her favorite movie is Tinkerbell, she loves make up and clothes. A loves to get her toes painted, even though daddy thinks she is to young. She loves to help me in the kitchen and follows me around the house all day just helping me do whatever I am doing. She is as tough as nails, and sweet as can be. She is having sleep issues at the moment that I am hoping will pass soon. I always end up falling asleep when I lay down with her. She is a mama's girl until daddy comes home, but that's OK with me. She is my little girl and I could not have imagined a child more perfect.
I hope you enjoy reading about my family and that we don't bore you to much. I hope to meet some new friends that our like minded. Please feel free to e-mail me or leave a a comment. Thanks for stopping by.
